Moving to Substack: A New Chapter
Moving To Substack

I'm excited to announce that I'm moving to Substack! This is a significant shift that will allow me to focus more on creating meaningful content and less on managing multiple platforms and technologies.

On Substack, I'm consolidating my content from various channels—including my other newsletters such as "Finding New Ideas" on LinkedIn and blog posts from philmckinney.com—under what I'm calling "Studio Notes."

What is Studio Notes?

Studio Notes is my most personal channel—where I share the stories behind my three decades of innovation. Unlike my podcast and YouTube content, these are my unfiltered experiences, the hard-won lessons from both failures and successes. It's where I reflect on what I've learned working with Fortune 100 CEOs, leading innovators, government officials, university researchers, and startups–and offer my current thinking about innovation's role in shaping society. Studio Notes isn't about teaching methods—it's about sharing the genuine human journey of innovation as I've lived it - and how I live it today.

Why Substack?

I've been feeling increasingly scattered across too many digital spaces. The constant maintenance of website updates, email lists, and platform-hopping has taken valuable time away from what matters most—creating new content and connecting with you.

Substack offers something refreshingly simple—a dedicated space without platform restrictions. No algorithms determining what reaches you. No complex tech stacks to maintain. Just direct connection, creating a more reliable relationship between us.

What This Means For You

Your support and interest in my work have always meant the world to me, and I want to make this transition as seamless as possible:

  • All subscribers will be transferred - You'll continue receiving content without interruption
  • Paid subscribers from the blog - If you're already a paid subscriber on my blog, your paid status will transfer over, plus you'll receive an additional six months of paid membership as a huge thank you for being an early supporter
  • More consistent publishing - With less time spent on tech management, I can focus on creating regular content
  • A mix of free and paid content - The vast majority of the content will remain free, with behind-the-scenes content, live streams, and other exclusives available to paid subscribers
  • A cleaner experience - No more navigating between emails and websites—everything in one place

Beyond The Practicalities

This move represents something more meaningful than just a platform switch. It's about creating a space where I can share experiences without chasing metrics, where the focus returns to substance and connection.

In a world of digital noise, I'm creating a more focused space—both for myself as a creator and for you as a follower—a place where we can explore innovation more deeply.

Join Me On This Journey

If you're already subscribed to my content on other platforms, you don't need to do anything—you'll continue receiving it at this new home. If you're reading this elsewhere, I'd love for you to join us on Substack.

Thank you for your continued support and for being part of this community. I'm grateful for your presence and excited about this focused new direction with Studio Notes.

Here's to simplicity, focus, and direct connection.

Phil

P.S. If you have questions about this transition, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your feedback is always welcome as we build this space together.
